Policies
Sign-In / Sign-Out Procedures
Glendale Heights responsibility for a child begins when a child is signed in by the parent or other authorized person and ends when the child is signed out by the parent or other authorized person. It is imperative that this procedure be followed for your child’s well being and safety. The Sign-In/Sign-Out sheets are located on clipboard adjacent to each classroom.
Absent Days
Glendale Heights understands a child can be out occasionally due to illness, vacations, etc. therefore, we allow 2 weeks of vacation time per year for which you will not be charged. A week is equal to the amount of days your child is normally scheduled to attend in a one-week period. Please submit a coupon in lieu of payment for each day you will like credit for.
Illness
Children who are ill with a contagious disease may not attend the center. If your child becomes ill while they are in attendance, we will call you. The Director will determine if a child is too ill to remain at the center. Any child experiencing the following symptoms should be removed from the center within 2 hours.
- A fever over 100 degrees F
- Contagious skin or eye infections
- Diarrhea three times in the course of a day
- Vomiting
- Unexplained rash
If children are sent home with a fever, they must be free of fever for at least 24 hours before returning. Under no circumstances should a parent administer aspirin substitute and then send a child to our center. Children may return when diarrhea has subsided for 24 hours. Children with a contagious disease requiring antibiotic must be on the antibiotic for 24 hours before returning. We require that your physician send us a note indicating that your child is free of a contagious disease before readmission.
Any child with a contagious disease will be isolated from the other children. State law requires that we notify parents of children that become infected with any contagious disease. This will be done through a notice posted at the center.
If your child should become infected with a contagious disease, please notify the center immediately. The Director can notify other families who may have been exposed to the contagious disease.
Extended Illness
There is no credit for the first week (5 consecutive days) of illness. A 50% credit is given for the second, third and fourth week. Your child’s space can not be held for longer than 30 days.

Meals & Snacks
A hot lunch is provided for children over the age of one. Menus are posted two weeks in advance. Your child is welcome to bring a bag lunch on any particular day, but please notify your child’s teacher. Nutritious snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon. These snacks will include such things as fruits and muffins. Since children enjoy sharing with their classmates, once a month you will be asked to send a treat for your child to share.
